a) An item of footwear, usually of rubber, secured by two straps mounted between the big toe and its neighbour.
b) An instance of flip-flopping, of repeatedly changing ones stated opinion about a matter.

To alternate back and forth between directly opposite opinions, ideas, or decisions.
